Safer spaces in disruptive times – how can this succeed?

In 2024, we invited you to the “Safer Spaces in Companies” event and worked out together how companies can position themselves socially and create safe(r) spaces in the workplace – not least as a counterweight to the hatred, hostility and discrimination that marginalized groups of people are exposed to in all areas of everyday life.
In the meantime, the framework conditions have changed further. Both the political developments in the USA and the disruptive times in this country are influencing the tone of public and political debates. This has resulted in new realities: Existing tendencies to question the rights of vulnerable groups are gaining strength and support. Fronts are hardening noticeably. This can be felt not only in the private sphere, but also in companies.
We would therefore like to ask the question: What can we do specifically in the working environment to maintain and continuously develop the safer spaces we have created in the future? How do we promote an appreciative discourse and a balanced culture of discussion that allows for a democratic diversity of opinions? How do we communicate facts and knowledge sustainably? And finally, how can we pool existing strengths? Because the current discussion spans all dimensions of diversity.
After two short impulses from a company perspective, we want to open up the space for a constructive exchange and the sharing of good practices. We will then use the World Café format to explore specific questions in greater depth and continue the discussion:
