Helge Fuhst works as media manager at tagesschau, the oldest news program on German television, which has become a successful cross-media brand with more than 20 million viewers and users every day. Fuhst also appears in front of the camera from time to time, as host of tagesthemen and nachtmagazin.

As Second Editor-in-Chief of ARD-aktuell, the 37-year-old, one of the youngest executives and few from the LGBTIQ community in the news sector of public broadcasting, wants to be a role model for other colleagues, especially internally. In terms of programming, Helge Fuhst is committed to diversity of opinion and different perspectives. The mission of public service broadcasting includes depicting the realities of life for all social groups – uncovering challenges, changes or disadvantages and explaining them to a broad audience. This also includes the visibility of the queer community. The ARD tagesthemen deal with diversity in interviews and features. Voices from the LGBTIQ community are not to be missed. At ARD-aktuell, equal opportunities for queer employees are part of the self-conception of the management and editorial staff.
